Therus Kolff Named Chairman Of The Board For VISTA Staffing Solutions

Founder of Locum Tenens Industry Complements VISTA’s Plans for Accelerated Growth and Expanded Services

Salt Lake City, Utah—July 13, 2005— Therus C. Kolff, M.D., MPH, founder of the locum tenens — or temporary physician staffing — industry, has accepted an appointment as chairman of the board at VISTA Staffing Solutions (www.vistastaff.com). Kolff joined VISTA, one of the largest locum tenens staffing firms in the United States, as an executive board member in 2002.

Kolff has been with the company during a period of strong growth and service expansion. In the last three years, VISTA opened an office in Atlanta and created dedicated service teams offering temporary staffing in physical medicine and rehabilitation, occupational medicine, neurology, oncology, and pathology. The company recently became the first to offer locum tenens physicians the opportunity to practice in both domestic and international assignments.

"Therus is a great complement to our team at VISTA. As a physician, he helps keep us focused on the fact that the service we provide ultimately impacts the quality of patient care. We take that responsibility very seriously, and only work with physicians to whom we would take a member of our own family for care," says Mark Brouse, VISTA president and CEO. "He has injected high energy and brought inquisitiveness to VISTA. We are looking forward to his continued and intensified involvement as the company grows."

Update on the Locum Tenens Industry

Dr. Kolff established the locum tenens industry in 1979 when he recognized an urgent need for highly qualified physicians who could travel to - and temporarily cover - positions in healthcare facilities throughout the United States. By 2000, healthcare experts were warning that this country would experience a shortage of at least 200,000 physicians over the next 15 years.

In 2003 the temporary staffing industry had an estimated $2 billion in revenues, confirming that healthcare facilities recognized locum tenens as a practical and effective solution for the growing physician shortage. More importantly, approximately 25,000 physicians took locum tenens assignments in hospitals, medical practices and government healthcare facilities to ensure the quality and continuity of care for patients.

Locum Tenens Through VISTA — Quality Matches for Physicians and Healthcare Facilities

VISTA’s first priority is matching quality physicians with health care organizations that need supplemental staffing. In the process, the company is able to offer rewarding, flexible work opportunities for physicians at any point in their careers - from post-residency to mid-career to semi-retirement. Physicians just out of residency can practice medicine in a number of locations and gain a variety of experience in a relatively short time. Mid-career physicians can take time off for family or volunteer work. For physicians approaching retirement, VISTA has options that will let them ease into it by working part-time.
